Caravan is an acoustic trio based in Charleston, SC. Consisting of two guitars and upright bass, their focus is on French gypsy swing, a la Django Reinhardt, but flamenco and bossa influences are also represented. They have performed at festivals and venues across the southeast and, in 2004, recorded “Night in Samois”, their debut album. Caravan used to play around Charleston quite regularly but have been on a two year hiatus while members explored other projects, traveled, lived like gypsies, etc. “We're excited about playing again. This music is so much fun to play; and people tend to identify with it more readily than, say, other types of jazz.
